The work in Jamaica has been physically exhausting but fulfilling in every other way. All of Catadupa is mountainous, so when someone wants to build a water reservoir at the spring on the top of the mountain they have to find a way to get supplies to the top. This week we learned the way was in buckets and shoulders. I think our group has become half mountain goat as we carried bucket after bucket up steep and usually slick terrain.
It was amazing to see our student handling the loads without a single complaint. It was evident on the smiles and many thanks by the Jamaican people that they were very appreciative of the work we were doing.
The Kids club ran a steady average of 50 kids all week and the gospel of Jesus Christ was clearly presented to every one who attended. It was sad to leave them and there were many hugs given. We have learned that this little parish in the middle of Jamaica is a very special place and God is moving in and through the people.
Now we are in Montego Bay getting ready to jump into the ocean. As great as the beds feel and as glorious as the air conditioning is we are all wishing we were still in Catadupa with the ones we have grown to love and appreciate.
